Inauguration ceremony of "Free Coaching Centre for the Visual Impairment & other Differently Abled persons for various Competitive Examinations"

NIP NGO, an organization that runs computer training centre for the blind came up with this unique innovative initiative of opening a free coaching centre for the visually impaired and other differently able persons for various competitive exams. NIP NGO is also releasing audio books for the visually impaired, study materials in large print for the students with acute vision and also in normal print for the other differently able persons, a venture supported by the Department of Child Development, Women Development and Social Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal. The event was graced by the presence of a lot of eminent personalities like: Dr. Smt. Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister of Women Development & Social Welfare, Child Development, MoS – Health and Family Welfare; Smt. Mita Banerjee, Ex Hon'ble Commissioner of Disablity, Govt. of W.B along with many others.

Special centres are to be set up to guide them for the competitive examinations. In this context, if the blind & other differently able people get proper training & guidance to sit in the competitive exams, they will be able to move at pace with the normal people. They will get a chance to serve properly. Forced to seek employment through categories reserved for the differently able persons, these candidates then discover that there might be a vacancy for them, and they may be even eligible to avail this facility. To get them trained for the competitive exams we should be aware and train them properly in regular basis.

The objective of this project is to give resources like audio book, Braille book, large print book which will be provided through support centre to the blind and other differently able persons for preparing themselves. And the coaching program is very useful for the blind and other differently able persons to get them properly ready for appearing the different competitive exams with also the help of the support centre.

For the students of class X and XII, there are also some posts in the state and central government jobs. We will provide the respective study materials and coaching according to their educational criteria and will give a proper guidance through this support centre & coaching programme. Computer training can play a vital role in promoting higher education among them it will also open up fresh job opportunities before them in near future. The students from class X to Master Degree level, will be provided with computer training to get them prepared for appearing in the different competitive exams. More than 100 differently able students graduate from the universities in West Bengal every year. The number is expected to increase with the introduction of integrated education at the school level. Recent policy of the state government to reserve posts in government offices and government aided schools has also encouraged them to pursue higher education with greater enthusiasm.

The support centre will also help the blind and other differently able persons to fill up the forms of the different competitive exams online whenever the respective forms will be introduced. They will get proper guidance to fill the forms online through our support centre.

Speaking about the event, MR. DEBAJYOTI ROY, Secretary, NIP NGO said, “Through this innovative project at 11/1 Bangur Avenue, Block C, Kolkata - 700055, the differently able persons will appear in the various competitive exams with proper guidance through the free coaching centre, proper study materials as required for the visual impairment, acute visioned and other differently able persons. Above all there will be guidance for filling up the forms of the competitive exams online through our support centre. I assure that through this program they will be able to compare themselves with the other people.”
