Cricketer Muralidaran and Actor Madhur Mittal Visit Kolkata to Promote Film

– The cricketing world’s legendary spinner, Muthiah Muralidaran, known for his record-breaking 800 test wickets, received immense support from his dear friend and former rival, Sourav Ganguly, during the promotional event of his biopic ‘800’ in Kolkata.

Oscar-winning actor Madhur Mittal, famous for his role in “Slumdog Millionaire,” is set to portray the iconic Sri Lankan spinner in this eagerly anticipated biopic, which is slated for release on October 6th in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu.

In a heartwarming gesture, Muralidaran and Madhur visited the Saltlake Shiksha Niketan School to engage with students and share insights about their upcoming movie. Later, they addressed the press in the city and relished the delectable cuisine that Kolkata is renowned for.

Reflecting on the film, Muralidaran shared, “You all have seen me playing cricket, but the film ‘800’ delves much deeper. It’s the story of my childhood and the formidable challenges I faced on both personal and professional fronts.”

Madhur, who undertook the daunting task of portraying the cricketing legend on screen, said, “It was indeed a challenging endeavor. I extensively studied Murali sir’s videos to capture his mannerisms. I had the privilege of meeting him briefly before filming, and his advice was invaluable – not to mimic him but to do justice to the portrayal. I sincerely hope he and his family appreciate our efforts.”

Muralidaran expressed his gratitude for Sourav Ganguly‘s support, stating, “I am elated that Sourav took the time to promote the film. While we have been fierce rivals on the cricket field, he has been an exceptional friend off it. I hold him in high regard.”

The biopic ‘800’ promises to be a cinematic celebration of Muthiah Muralidaran’s extraordinary journey from a humble childhood to becoming one of the greatest spinners in cricketing history. Cricket enthusiasts and moviegoers alike are eagerly awaiting its release in October.
