Srijit Mukherji is one of the most acclaimed contemporary filmmakers of Bengali cinema, known for his distinctive storytelling, layered characters and genre-defying films. Since his feature-film debut with Autograph in 2010, he has created a diverse body of work spanning psychological thrillers, period dramas, literary adaptations, biographies, musical films and mainstream entertainment. His celebrated films include Baishe Srabon, Jaatishwar, Chotushkone, Rajkahini, Ek Je Chhilo Raja, Vinci Da, Gumnaami, Dwitiyo Purush and Padatik.

ABOUT SRIJIT MUKHERJI
Srijit Mukherji was born on 23 September 1977 in Bhawanipore, Kolkata. Before entering filmmaking, he worked in different professional fields and developed a strong interest in theatre, literature, music and cinema.
His feature-film directorial debut, Autograph (2010), became a landmark success in modern Bengali cinema. The film established his reputation as a filmmaker with a strong understanding of screenplay, characterisation and cinematic language.
He followed it with films such as Memories in March, Baishe Srabon, Hemlock Society, Mishawr Rawhoshyo and Jaatishwar. His collaboration with actor Prosenjit Chatterjee became one of the defining creative partnerships of his career.
With Chotushkone, Srijit achieved major national recognition. The film earned him the National Film Award for Best Director as well as the National Film Award for Best Original Screenplay.
His later works expanded his cinematic canvas. Rajkahini was adapted into the Hindi film Begum Jaan, while Ek Je Chhilo Raja and Gumnaami received National Film Award recognition. He also directed Hindi projects including Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga, Shabaash Mithu and Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke.
Alongside direction, Srijit is active as a screenwriter, lyricist, actor and producer. His recent Bengali work includes Padatik and Shotyi Bole Shotyi Kichhu Nei, continuing his long association with ambitious, character-driven cinema.
