The Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata, Eastern India’s biggest running event, has added a new chapter to its celebrations with the launch of a special art exhibition at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
The three-day exhibition (September 9–11, from 3 PM to 8 PM) has been curated by artist Debasish Mallick Choudhury and showcases how art, sports, and service can come together to inspire society.
The inauguration was attended by well-known personalities, including supermodel and mountaineer Madhabilata Mitra, Chandan Roychoudhury of the Bengal Olympic and Paralympic Associations, Mrs. India 2024 Basabdutta Kar, and Grandmaster & Arjuna Awardee Dibendu Barua.
Speaking at the event, Dibendu Barua said, “The Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata reflects resilience and discipline—values that art also represents. This exhibition connects both beautifully.”
Chandan Roychoudhury added, “Sport and art both have the power to unite and inspire. This initiative is a tribute to athletes, the armed forces, and the creative youth of Bengal.”
The exhibition features works of 25 young painters from leading institutions such as Visva-Bharati University, Rabindra Bharati University, Government College of Art & Craft, Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Indian Art College, and Montmartre. The themes focus on courage, resilience, and national pride.
Importantly, all proceeds from the exhibition will go to the Army Welfare Fund, Bengal Sub Area, Indian Army, making it not just a cultural event but also a cause
