The Tapashili Jati Adivasi Prakton Sainik Krishi Bikash Shilpa Kendra, a socio-developmental organisation based in Dhaniakhali, Hooghly, has been working for the welfare and development of marginalized communities across several districts of West Bengal for the past four decades.
Addressing a press conference in Kolkata on Wednesday, the organisation’s Secretary, Soumen Kole, alleged that the previous state government failed to extend adequate support, which hampered the organisation’s developmental initiatives. Despite facing numerous challenges, he said the organisation continued its work through the dedication and commitment of its members.
“With the change in the state government, we are hopeful that the coordination between the Centre and the State under the new double engine administration will accelerate development. We believe the present government will provide the necessary assistance for the organisation’s future growth,” Kole said.
He also stated that West Bengal Minister for Tribal Welfare Khudiram Tudu has assured the organisation of government support. Although the minister could not attend the event due to unavoidable circumstances, he reportedly conveyed his commitment to stand by the organisation and expressed his willingness to participate in its next meeting to discuss future cooperation.
According to Kole, the organisation represents and works with a large number of economically disadvantaged people. He claimed that communications sent by the Central Government since 2015 had not received adequate attention from the previous state administration. He expressed optimism that the current government would give greater importance to such initiatives, creating new opportunities for the organisation and its members.
The organisation also announced plans to expand its activities from August, with the inclusion of new members and the launch of larger development projects aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods.
Founded in Dhaniakhali, Hooghly, the Tapashili Jati Adivasi Prakton Sainik Krishi Bikash Shilpa Kendra has been engaged in community development for nearly 40 years. Its key initiatives include integrated farming, natural farming, organic agriculture, fisheries, lac cultivation, vermicomposting, animal husbandry, beekeeping, and participation in Central Government programmes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the state government in implementing various public welfare schemes in the years ahead.
