The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata has announced the return of the Thai Film Festival in Kolkata 2026, set to take place from August 7 to 9 at Cinépolis, Acropolis Mall. This year’s edition, themed “Siam Symphony: A Cinematic Journey Through Time & Scenery,” promises to bring the richness of Thai cinema, culture and landscapes to Indian audiences through a curated selection of acclaimed films.
The three-day festival will feature seven celebrated Thai films, including the historical romance Love Destiny, romantic drama Low Season, inspirational coming-of-age film Panyi I Sea You, social drama Human Resource, family entertainer Gohan… Go Home, romantic drama Timeline: The Letter of Memory, and the award-winning musical classic The Overture.
The festival will open on Friday, August 7, with a special inaugural reception attended by members of the diplomatic community, Indian film personalities, media representatives and cultural enthusiasts. The opening film will be Love Destiny, officially launching the festival.
Organised in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the event aims to strengthen cultural ties between Thailand and India while encouraging audiences to explore Thailand’s heritage, traditions and breathtaking landscapes through cinema.
One of the biggest attractions of the festival is that all screenings are free for the public. However, entry will be on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to seat availability.
Movie registrations will remain open from July 28 to August 6, 2026. Interested viewers can register by scanning the QR code featured on the festival’s promotional materials and joining the Royal Thai Consulate-General’s WhatsApp Friend Circle for ticket registration and festival updates.
With an impressive lineup of award-winning films and free public screenings, the Thai Film Festival in Kolkata 2026 is expected to become one of the city’s major cultural and cinematic events, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of Thailand through the magic of storytelling on the big screen.
