The family also struggles with it.”
Director Pathikrit Basu shared his gratitude for the film’s production, saying, “I am really blessed that this film was produced by Windows. Not many films have been made on sports in Bengali cinema, and even fewer on sports like chess. This is probably the first film made on chess in India. And to have such amazing chess players launch the pre-teaser poster is an amazing experience.”
The film is produced by windows and Sanjay Agarwal, known for their impactful contributions to Indian cinema. Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee are the creative producers of the project, bringing their vision to life.
The star-studded cast of “Dabaru” includes Chiranjit Chakraborty, Dipankar De, Kaushik Sen, Kharaj Mukherjee, Biswanath Basu, and other talented actors who are set to bring this unique story to the silver screen.
Rituparna Sengupta, one of the film’s leading stars, expressed her excitement, saying, “I am really thrilled that I am associated with a sports film like this. When I first listened to the script, I wanted to be a part of this film. This is a film made on a not-so-popular sport. Films on football and cricket are common, but a film on chess is rather uncommon. I am so elated that I could be a part of this unique film that will surely make a mark.”
Viswanathan Anand, a legend in the world of chess, added, “I am excited to see how others perceive chess players. It will be interesting to see what sides of Surya’s life will be shown in this film. I have known him for quite some time and I am looking forward to seeing what events from his life will be shown in the film. Family support is very important for chess players. Behind every chess player, there is a long-suffering mother. This will be one exciting film to look forward to.”
“Dabaru” promises to be a cinematic masterpiece that not only celebrates the world of chess but also sheds light on the human side of the players and their families. Chess enthusiasts and film lovers alike can eagerly anticipate the release of this groundbreaking movie, which is set to make history as the first of its kind in Indian cinema.
