Raghu Dakat Movie Review: Dev Shines, But Weak Screenplay Pulls the Film Down

“Raghu Dakat Review: Dev delivers a strong performance, but weak screenplay, slow pacing, and poor song placement make it a missed opportunity.”

Raghu Dakat Movie Review

Movie Rating

Raghu Dakat, starring Dev, Anirban Bhattacharya, Sohini Sarkar, Rupa Ganguly, and Idhika Paul, released with high expectations. The title itself promised an intense dacoit drama packed with action and emotion. Unfortunately, while the film starts on an impressive note, it fails to live up to its name due to a weak screenplay, slow pacing, and poorly placed songs.

Performances

  • Dev’s performance is easily the strongest point of the film. His entry scene, dialogue delivery, and emotional depth hold the movie together.

  • Anirban Bhattacharya impresses in certain sequences and adds weight to the narrative.

  • Sohini Sarkar gives a good performance, while Rupa Ganguly and Idhika Paul are decent in their roles.

  • Om appears in limited scenes; although he is effective in parts, his main action sequence makes him look surprisingly weak.

Technical Aspects

  • The background score (BGM), especially the “Raghu Raghu” theme, is powerful and impactful.

  • The cinematography and large-scale production design make the film look visually grand.

  • Unfortunately, the songs are not well placed and disturb the flow of the story.

Story & Screenplay

This is where the film falls short:

  • The first half begins impressively but becomes slow in many places.

  • The second half also suffers from uneven pacing.

  • For a film named Raghu Dakat, the dacoit and action sequences are very limited and lack intensity.

  • The screenplay is weak, with several dragged-out moments that dilute the overall impact.

Verdict

Raghu Dakat had the potential to be a gripping Bengali action-drama, but it does not deliver what the audience expects from its title. Dev’s strong performance, the BGM, and the grand scale are positives, but the weak screenplay, poor song placement, and lack of powerful dacoit/action scenes make it a disappointment.

👉 Final Word: Watch it only for Dev’s performance and the scale. Otherwise, it falls short of expectations.
