Kolkata: The shooting of ‘DeSu7’, actor Dev’s first directorial venture, has officially wrapped. As the team marked the final day of the shoot, actress Subhashree Ganguly took to social media to share a heartfelt note praising Dev and reflecting on her experience of working with him as a director.
Addressing Dev directly, Subhashree wrote, “Dear Dev, today is the last shoot day for DeSu7, hence I thought of putting this out.” She recalled how both of them began their journeys in the Bengali film industry around a similar time, but said that working with Dev on his directorial debut was a completely different experience.
Subhashree Ganguly expressed her admiration for Dev’s vision, clarity and approach to filmmaking.
According to Subhashree, being part of Dev’s first directorial venture allowed her to witness a different side of the actor. She praised his vision and clarity of thought and revealed that she was initially surprised to see how organised and focused Dev was as a filmmaker.
Subhashree also candidly admitted that she was initially a little envious after seeing Dev’s understanding of screenplay and filmmaking. She wondered how Dev had managed to learn so much about the craft while continuing to work extensively as an actor.
As the shoot progressed, Subhashree’s initial feeling gradually transformed into admiration and inspiration. She said she felt increasingly inspired while witnessing Dev’s approach to filmmaking.
The actress expressed her belief that when ‘DeSu7’ releases, the Bengali film industry will get a new-age filmmaker who can tell stories while also entertaining the mass audience.
Subhashree further expressed how proud she was of Dev and wished him success in his new role behind the camera. She also extended her best wishes for his future endeavours as a director.
With the shooting of ‘DeSu7’ now complete, curiosity around Dev’s directorial debut is expected to grow. The film marks a significant new chapter in his career, as he takes on the responsibility of bringing a story to the screen from the director’s chair.
