“Arindam Sil to Direct the New Series for OTT Platform ‘Friday'”

The timeless classic, “Adarsha Hindu Hotel,” penned by the celebrated author Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, is set to undergo yet another adaptation, this time for the digital realm. The novel, originally published in 1940, has captivated readers with its narrative about ambition, dreams, and determination.

 Adaptations:
Over the years, “Adarsha Hindu Hotel” has seen its story brought to life on the silver screen and television. In 1957, Ardhendu Sen directed a cinematic adaptation featuring stellar performances by Chhabi Biswas, Dhiraj Bhattacharya, Sabitri Chatterjee, Jahar Ganguly, and others. Subsequently, legendary actor Manoj Mitra portrayed the indomitable Hajari Thakur in Raja Sen’s television adaptation for Doordarshan.

OTT Platform Adaptation:
According to sources, this beloved tale is set to receive a fresh interpretation on the burgeoning OTT platform, Friday. The highly anticipated series will be directed by renowned filmmaker Arindam Sil, known for his exceptional storytelling prowess. The character of Hajari Thakur, a pice hotel cook with lofty aspirations, will be portrayed by the versatile actor Mosharraf Karim. National Award-winner Ananya Chatterjee is rumored to be in talks to play the pivotal role of Padma.

Production Schedule:
Initially scheduled to commence filming in September, the production has now been rescheduled to start in January. This adaptation is expected to capture the essence of the novel’s timeless themes while presenting them in a contemporary context.

Friday OTT Platform Launch:
Helmed by Camellia Productions, the Friday OTT platform is poised for launch in the near future. “Adarsha Hindu Hotel” joins a lineup of exciting projects, including Kamaleswar Mukherjee’s “Gana Debota.” Meanwhile, Arindam Sil’s “Jongole Mitin Mashi,” featuring Koel Mallick in the lead, is set for release during the auspicious Durga Puja. This film marks the second chapter of Suchitra Bhattacharya’s beloved detective character, Mitin Mashi, promising a thrilling cinematic experience.
