War 2 Movie Review – Big Stars, Stylish Action, but a Weak Core

War 2 movie review
Movie Rating

War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, brings together two powerhouse stars — Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr. — in a much-anticipated Spy Universe chapter. The film promises non-stop action and heroism, but the end result is a stylish entertainer that’s enjoyable in parts yet weighed down by an undercooked script.

What Works ✅

Star Performances:

  • Hrithik Roshan as Kabir once again dominates with unmatched screen presence, sharp action moves, and an electrifying entry sequence that will trend online. His charisma is balanced with emotional beats that add depth.

  • NTR Jr., in his Bollywood debut, delivers with confidence — his body language, dialogue delivery, and mass appeal are spot on, making him a solid fit for the spy-action space.

  • Anil Kapoor makes a surprise appearance in a pivotal role and delivers reliably.

  • Ashutosh Rana reprises his War role effectively.

Action & Style:

  • Multiple well-designed action blocks — the car chase and the parking lot fight stand out.

  • International locations and slick cinematography give the film a grand visual appeal.

What Doesn’t ❌

Story & Screenplay:

  • The plot is predictable and doesn’t bring enough freshness to the Spy Universe.

  • Emotional subplots, including a hinted mythological angle, are either underdeveloped or abandoned midway.

  • The character arc for NTR Jr. feels thin — despite his performance, his role lacks the heroic highs fans expect.

  • The second half loses steam, and the climax feels stretched without delivering a satisfying payoff.

Technical Drawbacks:

  • VFX remains inconsistent, something noticed since the teaser stage.

  • Some songs (apart from “Janaabe Aali”) fail to make an impact.

Verdict 🎬

War 2 is a mixed bag — it delivers on star power, sleek visuals, and some thrilling action moments, but stumbles due to a weak script and underdeveloped characters. It works best if you approach it as a pure popcorn entertainer without expecting the tightness of the first War.

Final Word: Watch it for Hrithik’s charm, NTR’s debut swagger, and the stylish set-pieces — just don’t expect the story to match the scale.
