Toxic Box Office : Yash Starrer Closes Extended Opening Weekend at Rs. 266.50 Cr; Earnings Plummet After Massive Day One

Toxic, starring Yash, closed its extended five-day opening weekend with a worldwide gross of Rs. 266.50 cr.

The film collected approximately Rs. 228.50 cr in India across the five-day period and earned USD 4,025,000 in overseas markets, bringing the worldwide total to Rs. 266.50 cr.

Toxic opened with a huge first day of over Rs. 100 crore but could not sustain that start. Poor audience reception led to a steep drop on the second day and a continuing decline through the weekend. By the final day of the weekend, collections were at roughly 20 percent of the first-day total.

Day-wise India gross (approx):
Wednesday: Rs. 111.75 cr.

Friday: Rs. 27.75 cr.
Saturday: Rs. 26.00 cr.
Sunday: Rs. 24.50 cr.
Total (India): Rs. 228.50 cr.

The majority of the film’s business came from the Hindi version, which grossed around Rs. 138 crore (Rs. 114 crore nett) approx. Karnataka — the film’s home territory — registered a record opening day but saw sharp falls on subsequent days; after five days its total is closer to half of Kantara Chapter 1. Other southern states also opened well and then crashed the next day without recovery.

Territorial breakdown (gross, approx):
Karnataka: Rs. 57.25 cr.
APTS: Rs. 26.50 cr.
Tamil Nadu: Rs. 10.75 cr.
Kerala: Rs. 3.50 cr.

India total: Rs. 228.50 cr.

United Kingdom: 400,000
Rest of Europe: 200,000
Rest of World: 150,000
Overseas total: USD 4,025,000.

The box office run is described as essentially over, with very little expected after the weekend. The film is being called a failure at the box office, and the financial situation is reported as worse due to very high costs and weak non-theatrical recoveries. The report states that losses will be among the highest ever in Indian cinema.
