Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, Achieves 1000 Robotic Knee Replacements in Less Than Two Years

Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, has created history in Eastern India by completing 1,000 Robotic Total Knee Replacement (TKR) surgeries in under two years, the fastest achievement of its kind in the region and among the quickest in the country. The milestone was reached under the leadership of Dr. Vikash Kapoor, Cluster Director – Orthopaedics, Manipal Hospital EM Bypass and Mukundapur.

To mark the occasion, the hospital hosted a unique celebration where patients who had undergone the surgeries became the stars of the evening. They performed dhunuchi naach, walked the ramp, and showcased fitness routines, symbolizing the freedom and confidence regained through advanced robotic technology.

The event was graced by several eminent personalities including Member of Parliament Smt. Mala Roy, legendary singer Usha Uthup, danseuse Tanushree Shankar, Kantha icon Shamlu Dudheja and Mallika Verma, along with leading industrialists Ramesh Juneja (Chairman & MD, Juneja Group), Harshavardhan Neotia (Ambuja Neotia Group), Pradeep Sureka (Sureka Group), Ajay Modi (Manyavar Group), Debaditya Chowdhury (Founder, Chowman & Oudh 1590), Arun Poddar (Chairman, B. P. Poddar Group), and others. Some of these dignitaries had themselves undergone robotic knee replacement at Manipal Hospital under Dr. Kapoor’s care.

A fireside chat hosted by RJ Arvind with Dr. Vikash Kapoor further highlighted the benefits of robotic-assisted knee replacement, raising awareness about its precision, faster recovery, and better long-term outcomes.
