Popular Bengali actress Srabanti Chatterjee has stepped into the role of a presenter for the upcoming Bengali film Daanter Lorai, directed by Biplob Kayal. The official trailer of the much-anticipated movie was launched at the Heddone Lounge, the largest beverage store in Eastern India, in the presence of the entire cast and crew.
Srabanti Chatterjee: A Presenter with Passion
Speaking at the event, Srabanti expressed her heartfelt excitement:
“I am extremely excited to present ‘Daanter Lorai’. Set in the 1970s, the film tells the emotional story of a young girl named Khuku and her love for a candy called Daanter Lorai. It’s a touching journey about her struggles to arrange money for her father’s treatment and her dream of visiting the city with him. The climax will leave a deep emotional impact. Director Biplob Kayal has beautifully captured the essence of rural life.”
Srabanti also praised the cast’s performances:
“What truly amazed me is that both Akansha Sengupta and Swastika Das, who played Khuku and her mother, are the same age and even from the same school. Yet, their performances are so convincing—audiences won’t be able to tell.”
Director and Cast Share Their Experiences
Director Biplob Kayal stated,
“Having Srabanti Chatterjee as the presenter is an honour. Everyone in the team gave their best. It’s a special story that will surely touch hearts.”
Akansha Sengupta, in her debut role as Khuku, shared,
“It was challenging yet fulfilling to play a rural girl. I had to learn the dialect and body language. I feel blessed that Srabanti Ma’am is presenting my debut film.”
Swastika Das, who plays Khuku’s mother, added,
“I was surprised to be offered the role of a mother, but workshops helped me become the character. It’s been a transformative journey.”

Vishnu Agarwal, co-owner of Heddone, commented,

The event also saw performances and appearances by singers Debopriyo Das, Arijit Kishore Ray, Parijat Chakraborty, and Abhilash Chakraborty, adding to the grandeur of the launch.
About the Movie
Daanter Lorai is a nostalgic tale set in the 1970s, blending emotional storytelling with the vibrant simplicity of rural Bengal. It is produced by 7 Horses Production and is all set to release in theatres on 11th July 2025.
