Raajhorshee De’s upcoming Tollywood thriller, “Sada Ronger Prithibi,” revealed its intense and thought-provoking trailer today at Inox South City Mall, Kolkata. The film, shedding light on the alarming issue of widow trafficking in India, is set to offer a unique narrative against the backdrop of Varanasi, a sanctuary for many widows.
The trailer launch event was graced by distinguished personalities including Dr. Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister in Charge of Industries, Commerce & Enterprises, and the Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare. Also present were Sohini Sastri, renowned Fortune Teller and Healer; Madhuja Banerjee, Senior Vice President of Fiction Colors Hindi & Viacom 18 Media Pvt Ltd; Amit Agarwal, Eminent Film Producer; Director Raajhorshee De; and the stellar star cast of “Sada Ronger Prithibi.”
This cinematic endeavor is the first of its kind in India, delving into the grave issue of widow trafficking, a subject yet to be explored in any other language. The film unfolds the monochromatic lives of widows in Varanasi, concealing the sinister plots of criminal masterminds seeking to exploit these vulnerable women.
The plot takes a riveting turn as a young police officer infiltrates a shelter, unaware of the perilous challenges awaiting her. Disguised as one of the inmates, she endeavors to expose the truth behind the crimes. The narrative promises to tackle political pressures and other looming threats, questioning whether she can triumph over the unseen evil.
Presented by Adarsh Telemedia and Amit Agarwal, and produced by Sushant Sengupta, Shrravonii Pal, and Raajhorshee De, the film boasts a star-studded cast featuring 19 top actors from Bengal. The storyline aims to shed light on the struggles of widows, the crimes perpetrated against them, and the age-old customs confining them to a restrictive lifestyle.
The film’s stellar cast includes Srabanti Chatterjee, Sauraseni Maitra, Arindam Sil, Rwitobrata Mukherjee, Sneha Chatterjee, Mallika Banerjee, Devlina Kumar, Ananya Banerjee, Richa Sharma, Sohini Guharoy, Deboshree Ganguly, Oindrilla Bose, Arunava Dery, Ishaan Mazumdar, Monalisha Banerjee, Anuradha Choudhury, and a guest appearance by Subhrajit Mitra. The music, composed by Ashu Chakraborty, adds a soul-stirring dimension to the film.
“Sada Ronger Prithibi” is slated for a theatrical release on 23rd February 2024.
