Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat Review: Starring Jeet in the lead, Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat is an ambitious Bengali historical action drama that explores the life, ideals and transformation of a revolutionary. Directed by Pathikrit Basu, the film features a strong ensemble cast including Tota Roy Choudhury, Loknath Dey Loka, Kaushik Sen, Chandan Sen, Durbar Sharma, Debottama Saha and Priyanka Sarkar.
The film has an intriguing premise, strong performances and impressive music by Shantanu Moitra. While the screenplay has a few weak patches, the overall experience remains engaging and makes the film a good watch.
Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat: Story
The story revolves around Ananta Singh, a revolutionary who fought for India’s independence alongside figures such as Surya Sen and Pritilata Waddedar.
However, the story begins to take a different turn after India achieves independence.
Ananta Singh encounters a changing social and political reality that makes him question whether the freedom he and his fellow revolutionaries fought for has truly reached the common people.
This creates the central conflict of the film.
How does a revolutionary become a dacoit? Was Ananta Singh really a dacoit, or did circumstances and society give him that identity?
The film attempts to explore these questions while presenting the journey of a man whose identity gradually moves from revolutionary to outlaw.
Rather than simply telling a conventional historical story, the film tries to examine the grey area between heroism, rebellion, crime and social injustice.
Jeet Is Outstanding
The biggest strength of Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat is undoubtedly Jeet.
He delivers an outstanding and deeply committed performance in the lead role. From intense emotional moments to action sequences, Jeet remains completely convincing throughout the film.
The character demands physicality, emotional depth and intensity, and Jeet brings all three to the screen.
His screen presence is particularly strong, and several of the film’s most memorable moments belong to him.
For Jeet, this is one of those performances where it becomes difficult to separate the actor from the character.
Tota Roy Choudhury Is Equally Impressive
Tota Roy Choudhury is another major highlight of the film.
Playing a police officer, Tota brings authority and restraint to the character. His scenes have a strong presence, and he gets several impactful dialogues that he delivers extremely well.
His performance adds an important counterpoint to Jeet’s character and contributes significantly to the dramatic tension.
Supporting Performances
Loknath Dey Loka is very good as Surya Sen. He brings dignity and conviction to the character.
Durbar Sharma does well with whatever screen time he gets.
Kaushik Sen delivers a solid performance, while Chandan Sen makes an impact despite having limited screen time.
Debottama Saha is good in her brief appearance.Suprobhat Das makes a strong cameo, making a noticeable impact despite his limited screen time.
Priyanka Sarkar, unfortunately, has a very small role and does not get enough scope to make a significant impact.
Overall, the ensemble cast supports the film effectively.
Shantanu Moitra’s Music Is a Major Plus
The music is one of the film’s biggest positives.
Composer Shantanu Moitra has created songs that suit the period setting and emotional world of the film. The music blends well with the narrative instead of feeling like an interruption.
The background score complements the film’s emotional moments and action sequences, but it could have been more impactful and memorable, especially during the film’s key dramatic moments.
Pathikrit Basu’s Direction
Director Pathikrit Basu deserves credit for taking on a subject with such scale and ambition.
The expectations going into the film may not have been exceptionally high, but Basu manages to deliver a film that remains engaging for the most part.
The period setting, action, drama and emotional elements have been brought together effectively.
However, the film is not without its shortcomings. The screenplay feels slightly uneven in certain portions, and a few developments could have been presented with greater clarity and stronger transitions.
Despite these issues, Pathikrit Basu does not disappoint and succeeds in delivering a film with a distinct identity.
Story & Screenplay
The story is undoubtedly one of the film’s most interesting aspects.
Aritra Banerjee and Arpan, who have worked on the story and screenplay, deserve credit for attempting to tell a narrative that goes beyond a straightforward revolutionary story.
The transformation of Ananta Singh from revolutionary to someone labelled a dacoit provides the film with a fascinating dramatic conflict.
The screenplay works particularly well when it explores the character’s internal conflict and his changing relationship with society.
That said, some portions could have been tighter. There are a few logical gaps and moments where the narrative loses some momentum.
A more polished screenplay could have made the film even more impactful.
Cinematography ,Makeup & Action
The cinematography is quite good and successfully captures the period atmosphere of the film.
The visual treatment complements the scale of the story, while the action sequences are also handled effectively.
The action is not merely inserted for spectacle; it generally works within the larger narrative.Makeup by Somnath Kundu deserves special mention.
A Special Mention for Producer Pradip Nandi
A special word of appreciation must go to producer Pradip Nandi for backing a film of this scale and for choosing to tell a story rooted in history, revolution and the complex circumstances surrounding a revolutionary’s transformation.
At a time when mainstream cinema often prefers safer and more familiar subjects, taking the risk of making a large-scale Bengali film based on such a subject deserves applause.
The ambition behind the project is clearly visible on screen, and the decision to bring a story like this to a wider audience is certainly commendable.

Shantanu Moitra’s music, the cinematography and action add further value to the overall experience.
The screenplay does have some weaknesses, but the film deserves credit for attempting something ambitious and different.

Is a revolutionary always a revolutionary? Or can circumstances turn a revolutionary into a dacoit in the eyes of society?
