West Bengal clinched the 54th Senior Men’s National Handball Championship after defeating Chandigarh 37–33 in a thrilling final at the Netaji Subhash Sports Arena here on Monday.
Jagender of West Bengal was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the Final, while his teammate Sourabh earned the title of Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament for his outstanding performance throughout the championship. Chandigarh’s Ravi was named the Player of the Tournament.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay presented the trophies to the finalists at the prize distribution ceremony. Techno India Group Managing Director Satyam Roychowdhury was also present on the occasion.
In the third-place playoff, Chhattisgarh secured the bronze medal by defeating Rajasthan 43–37.
The championship was co-hosted by the National Handball Association and Techno India Group, and witnessed strong participation from teams across the country, highlighting the growing popularity of handball in India.
