Acclaimed artist and poet Indrani Dutt has officially launched her YouTube channel, “indrani dutt”, with an intimate event held on Wednesday evening at the Lake Club’s Kitty Room in Kolkata. The initiative, titled ‘Kotha Kaw’, is more than just a platform for spoken word—it’s a heartfelt space for sharing inner reflections through poetry.

Supported by Picaso, the launch event brought together an ensemble of distinguished figures from Bengal’s cultural scene. Among those present were Subodh Sarkar, Srijato, Kalyan Sen Barat, Aniruddha Singh, Archana Sengupta, Krishnakumar Das, and other prominent voices in poetry, music, and media.
Indrani, who grew up amidst the cultural heritage of North Kolkata, has long carried melodies and verses within her. Her journey from childhood, surrounded by music and literature, has now culminated in this poetic expression. The YouTube channel debuts with eight self-composed poems, each narrated in her own voice and enriched with visual storytelling and original background scores by Tathagata Sengupta.
Speaking at the event, veteran music director Kalyan Sen Barat said,
> “When a poet recites their own words, it gives the poetry a new depth. There’s a touch of life in the voice that no performer can replicate.”
Celebrated poet Subodh Sarkar praised the format, adding,
> “From handwritten verses shared under trees to printed books and now digital platforms—poetry keeps evolving. Indrani’s initiative is a beautiful way to bring poetry to new audiences through technology.”
Srijato echoed the sentiment, commending Indrani’s personal voice and intent:
> “The desire to express and connect is the root of all art. Indrani’s poetic language carries that spirit. What touched me the most is the warmth and simplicity of this launch—where everyone feels included.”
The evening’s proceedings were gracefully anchored by Debyani Laha, while Indrani’s close family members, including Sujit Dutt, Debraj Dutt, and Ragini Roy Dutt, stood by her side, lending their support throughout the journey.
Music mentor Aniruddha Singh, who has guided Indrani for over two decades, remarked,
> “Her greatest strength is her sincerity and persistence. She has never sought attention through shortcuts.”
A young singer present at the event described the YouTube channel as
> “Indranidi’s child—born today with love, hope, and poetry.”
With her own words, her own voice, and an unmistakable emotional connection to each poem, Indrani Dutt’s channel “indrani dutt” promises to be a soulful digital destination for lovers of poetry.
