The release of Rasha Thadani and Abhay Verma’s upcoming romantic drama Laikey Laikaa has been postponed. The film, originally scheduled for 2026, is now expected to arrive in February 2027.
According to a source close to the project, the makers decided to delay the release to accommodate a special song featuring Rasha Thadani. The move follows the strong response Rasha received for her dance performance in "Uyi Amma," a track from her debut film Azaad, which released in 2025.
The source told HT City that "Uyi Amma" showcased Rasha’s dancing and, because her character in Laikey Laikaa is a dancer, the team wanted to utilise her in a dedicated song. The makers felt the film’s new February slot — coinciding with Valentine’s Day — would be suitable for an intense romantic story.
Laikey Laikaa was initially planned as a summer 2026 release and marks the first on-screen pairing of Rasha Thadani and Abhay Verma. Further details about the film’s plot and the upcoming song are being kept under wraps.
The new track is expected to provide another dance-focused moment for Rasha following the attention generated by "Uyi Amma." The makers are also aiming to capitalise on February’s association with romance for the theatrical opening.
In other developments, Abhay Verma was recently seen in the OTT series Operation Safed Sagar: The Untold Story of the Kargil War. Rasha Thadani made her Telugu acting debut with Srinivasa Mangapuram, which released in cinemas earlier this year.
