One of Bengal’s most iconic jewellery houses, B. Sirkar Johuree, marked a defining moment in its illustrious legacy with the grand unveiling of its Annual Calendar 2026 on Monday evening. Commencing at 7:00 p.m., the event emerged as a dazzling confluence of fashion, heritage, and fine craftsmanship, reaffirming the brand’s stature as a torchbearer of excellence since its establishment in 1884.
Often compared to legendary artistic masters for its creativity and finesse, B. Sirkar Johuree has long been synonymous with uncompromising quality and refined craftsmanship. Its historic showrooms at Bowbazar and Elgin Road continue to attract patrons across generations, standing as living symbols of trust and tradition.
Fashion Meets Fine Jewellery
The calendar launch was highlighted by an exclusive fashion showcase featuring leading Kolkata models, presented in two meticulously curated segments.
The first segment introduced a contemporary, lightweight designer jewellery collection—modern, elegant, and crafted for everyday luxury with effortless sophistication.
The second segment unveiled the Heritage Jewellery Collection 2026, showcasing richer, heavier designs inspired by traditional artistry and timeless grandeur. Notably, all designs presented during the show were brand-new creations, revealed for the first time at the event.
Star Power and Visionary Leadership
Adding glamour to the evening, brand face and showstopper Nusrat Jahan captivated the audience with her poise and presence. The event was graciously hosted by the owners, Sree Sirkar and Joydeep Sirkar, who welcomed guests and shared reflections on the brand’s journey, philosophy, and forward-looking vision.

A Legacy of Innovation and Global Recognition
B. Sirkar Johuree’s history is deeply rooted in resilience and innovation. During the restrictive era of the Gold Control Act in the early 1960s, the brand pioneered the revival of jewellery production using 14-carat gold. It was also among the earliest to introduce hallmarking, setting new industry benchmarks for purity and customer trust.
International recognition followed in 1977 when the brand was selected as one of only 12 jewellers to represent India at the Kuwait Festival—marking the beginning of India’s gold jewellery exports. Over the years, the brand has showcased its creations at prestigious exhibitions across New York, Japan, Dubai, Malaysia, and Munich, earning widespread acclaim, including recognition at Kolkata’s Sonar Sansaar jewellery exhibition. Its celebrated Ratan Choor further gained international prestige when acquired by members of royal households.
The brand’s standing was strengthened through membership in the GJEPC, participation in the IIJS Signature Show, and a celebrated collaboration with designer Sharbari Dutta, culminating in a landmark fashion presentation at Taj Bengal.
Accolades Beyond Jewellery
Among numerous honours, the brand received the Nirayat Shiromani Puraskar in 2006 and the Gem of India Award in 2004. From 2008 onwards, it also gained a unique association with legendary figures such as Bejan Daruwala, Sanjay Jhumani, and Neeraj Machandha.
Beyond the world of jewellery, the legacy of Bireshwar Sirkar extended into Bengali music, with iconic compositions like “Brishti Brishti Brishti” and “Ke Jaane Ko Ghonta.” His musical contributions were posthumously honoured when Lata Mangeshkar released an album featuring his unreleased works—an emotional milestone in the brand’s cultural journey.
Carrying the Torch Forward
Under the visionary leadership of Sree Sirkar, daughter of the founder, the brand entered a new era of growth. Taking charge after Bireshwar Sirkar’s passing, she expanded the business through franchising across Midnapur, Durgapur, Malda, Tamluk, Siuri, Bagnan, Coochbehar, and Katwa. A respected authority in jewellery design, she has also contributed academically as a guest lecturer and examiner at NIFT, nurturing future designers.
With a distinguished corporate clientele including Airtel, Hindustan Lever, Balmer Lawrie, and Indian Oil, and a legacy spanning over a century, the Annual Calendar Launch 2026 stood as more than an event—it was a celebration of enduring excellence, where heritage met innovation and tradition found new expression through contemporary elegance.
