Ambitious, Fresh But Uneven
Katukutu Buro deserves credit for attempting something different within Bengali cinema. Ujaan Ganguly’s directorial debut combines superhero drama, psychological conflict, vigilante storytelling and social commentary.
The film’s exploration of childhood trauma and emotional scars is one of its strongest elements. The central idea is ambitious and refreshing, although the execution does not always reach the level of its premise.
The screenplay attempts to handle several ideas simultaneously, which sometimes makes the narrative feel uneven. Some emotional and character arcs could have received greater development, while the romantic track does not always achieve the desired impact.
The performances provide considerable support. Ujaan Ganguly is sincere in the lead, while the supporting cast adds weight to the film. Its willingness to experiment remains one of its biggest strengths.
