Rajinikanth returns as Muthuvel Pandian in Jailer 2, with the film’s second single “One Sun One Moon” blending soft rock and traditional Indian music while celebrating the superstar’s signature style.
Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth in the lead, is scheduled to hit cinemas on October 15, 2026. Ahead of its theatrical release, the makers have unveiled the film’s second single, “One Sun One Moon”.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the song combines soft rock with traditional Indian musical elements and brings back the swagger and larger-than-life energy associated with the first instalment.
One Sun One Moon Song Blends Rock and Indian Music
The newly released track features a fusion of soft rock and traditional Indian music. Anirudh Ravichander has sung the song along with MS Krsna, while Heisenberg and Super Subu have penned the lyrics.
The song is driven largely by its lyrical energy, while the accompanying visuals offer glimpses of Rajinikanth from the upcoming sequel.
A Tribute to Rajinikanth’s Baasha
The title “One Sun One Moon” carries an interesting connection to Rajinikanth’s popular film Baasha, making the song another nod to the superstar’s long-standing screen legacy.
The track also continues the spirit of the original Jailer, combining music, mass appeal and Rajinikanth’s iconic screen presence.
Jailer 2 Cast and Story
The sequel follows the success of the 2023 blockbuster Jailer, with Rajinikanth returning as Muthuvel Pandian. The new film is expected to continue the story following the events of the first instalment.
The makers have already released glimpses of several key characters, including Suraj Venjaramoodu, SJ Suryah and Vidya Balan. They are reportedly expected to have antagonist roles in the film.
The film is also expected to feature appearances from Hrithik Roshan, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Vijay Sethupathi in cameo roles.
Rajinikanth’s Upcoming Projects
Beyond Jailer 2, Rajinikanth is set to headline the upcoming action film Dharman, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. The project was previously referred to by its tentative title, Thalaivar173.
The film reportedly features Rajinikanth as a stylish doctor, with Simran Bagga, Yogi Babu and Raashii Khanna among the cast.
Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music and background score, while Niketh Bommireddy is handling cinematography and Pradeep E. Ragav is editing. The Anbariv duo is serving as the action choreographers.
Reports have also suggested that Ram Pothineni could play the main antagonist. However, his involvement has not been officially confirmed.
KHxRK Also in the Pipeline
Rajinikanth also has the tentatively titled KHxRK in the pipeline, which is expected to reunite him with Kamal Haasan.
