Koel Mullick Joins 200+ Children for Heartfelt Sitaare Zameen Par Event

A Starry Afternoon of Hope, Inclusion, and Inspiration: Over 200 Children Attend Special Screening of Sitaare Zameen Par at Quest Mall

Kolkata, July 3, 2025 — A regular weekday afternoon transformed into a celebration of dreams and diversity, as Ek Packet Umeed, in partnership with India Autism Center, hosted a heart-touching special screening of Sitaare Zameen Par at INOX Quest Mall. The event, supported by FICCI FLO Kolkata, welcomed over 200 children with special needs, offering them not just a movie, but a moment of belonging.

The occasion was elevated by the presence of Dr. Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare and Industry, Commerce & Enterprises, Government of West Bengal, who attended as Chief Guest, and acclaimed actress Koel Mullick as Guest of Honor. Both dignitaries engaged warmly with the children, creating an atmosphere of joy, acceptance, and celebration.

“This wasn’t just a movie screening—it was a celebration of every child’s worth,” said Ayush Sarda, founder of Ek Packet Umeed, whose initiatives have impacted more than 35,000 lives across Bengal through grassroots efforts in education, healthcare, and livelihood development. “Every child here is a star, and today, they truly felt it.”

The film Sitaare Zameen Par, which explores the themes of neurodivergence and societal acceptance, found deep resonance with the audience. For many children, it was the first time seeing their own experiences reflected on the big screen.

“This film isn’t just entertainment—it’s a movement,” said Koel Mullick, visibly moved by the energy in the room. “We need more spaces and stories that normalize neurodiversity and inspire empathy.”

A representative from India Autism Center echoed the sentiment: “Inclusion happens when awareness meets empathy. Today wasn’t symbolic—it was a lived experience, a memory that stays with our children long after the screen goes dark.”

The event stood as a shining example of the impact that collaboration between socially conscious organizations can have. By coming together, Ek Packet Umeed, India Autism Center, and FICCI FLO Kolkata showcased the true potential of purposeful partnerships.

In a world where many still struggle for visibility, the screening of Sitaare Zameen Par offered not just representation—but recognition, love, and hope.
