‘Poila Baisakh’ is one of the most important festivals for all the Bengalis, marking the Bengali New Year. Many big directors have released their films during this season and even this year two big budget ones are arriving for ‘Poila Baisakh’. Premer Kahini (2008) :
This romantic drama which is the remake of the 2006 Kannada blockbuster ‘Mangaru Male’ is the first blockbuster of Superstar Dev. Directed by Ravi Kinagi, the film also features Koyel Mullick, Jishu Sengupta and Ranjit Mullick. Jeet Ganguly has composed the music for the film. The story revolves around two people who're passionately in love and the twists and turns they experience.
This drama film is another classic from the stable of director Kaushik Ganguly, who also penned the film’s story. Starring Rahul Bose, Churni Ganguly and Sawaswata Mukherjee, this film was one of the biggest hits of 2012, this film tells some stories related to some different people connected by one single laptop. The film’s music was scored by Mayookh Bhaumik.
Le Halua Le (2012)
This comedy hit is the Bengali version of the 2003 Bollywood blockbuster ‘Hungama’, which in turn is the remake of the Malayalam film ‘Poochakkoru Mookkuthi’. Directed by Raja Chanda, the film stars Mithun Da, Soham Chakrobarthy, Hiran and Payal. The film’s music has been composed by Jeet Ganguly. It is basically a comedy-drama about the different roles that people play in life.
Goynar Baksho (2013)
Aparna Sen has wielded the megaphone for this horror comedy which revolves around women of three generations and their lives and changing position in society. It stars her daughter Konkana Sen Sharma, Moushmi Chatterjee and Srabanti Chatterjee. Konkana and Moushmi won the Filmfare Award for the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for their performances in the film. Deojyoti Mishra scored the music for this super hit.
This National Award winning film by Kaushik Ganguly revolves around the life of a foley artist in Bengali films. Starring Ritwik Chakraborty and Raima Sen, this film was equally appreciated by the critics and audiences alike. It also won the National Award for the Best Audiography.
Amanush 2 (2015)
This thriller film is the remake of the 2010 Tamil film ‘Naan’. Directed by Rajib Kumar Biswas, the film stars Soham Chakraborty as Raghu and Payel Sarkar. The music for the film has been composed by Arindam Chatterjee. It went on to be a money spinner at the box office.
This action entertainer marks Superstar Jeet's 30th film and is produced by Surinder Films and Shree Venkatesh Films. It is releasing among huge expectations today and is set to keep the cash registers ringing. Jeet is essaying a double role in the movie and his female co-stars will be Nusrat Jahan and Sayantika Banerjee. Jeet Ganguly gave the music for the film.
Directed by veteran filmmaker Goutam Ghose, this Indo-Bangladesh venture stars Prosenjit Chatterjee and Bangladeshi actress Kusum Sikder in the lead. It's a border tragedy about a couple and their ailing daughter. It is already a winner at various International Film Festivals and also won the National Award for the Best Bengali Film this year. Releasing today, it is ready to hit the bull’s eye at the box office.
