WRA with a vision for a maternal death free world where the right of all women to be safe and healthy before, during and after childbirth is encouraged” and provide respectful maternal health service with the support of the media and government, has asked people to come forward and join the movement in Quality of Care in Maternal & Newborn Health Services.

The day also focused on the Service & Accountability in Healthcare along with Quality of Care in Maternal & Newborn Health Services in WB, Analysis on gaps and good practices, Maternal and Child Health Status, Urban Health in WB, Waiting Hubs’ for pregnant women to name a few.

In a major boost to digital marketing, White Ribbon Alliance is not only expecting an exponential growth in healthcare with the use of this app by the MP/MALs but also sharing the responsibility with them in providing every possible way to elevate the healthcare scenario along with the Govt. WRA believes good services with care are vital for state’s development. This should go hand-in-hand with the Government, Media and Mass Awareness.

WRAWB representatives also shared QoC related data from recently administered facility assessment survey/client satisfaction survey done in three districts namely Dakshin Dinajpore,Birbhum and Coochbehar. The data reveals that West Bengal is among the top five performing states in the country and better performance across all indicators as compared to all India average. Even then, we need to work hard for finding good alternative of unnecessary referral, as an example using partogrph can save live. A small invest for clean labour room toilet can be good tool for infection control and client satisfaction. As per government data still common people has to pay Rs.7782 on an average for delivery at government hospitals but it should be “0” since there is a scheme called JSSK. In NHM there are ample scope of involving CSOs in the QoC process but still CSO participation is very less in West Bengal.

Speaking on the occasion WRAWB State Coordinator Mr. Sujoy Roy said, “We have conceptualized this app with the aim to encourage the MP/MLAs with hassle free maternal health care status at their finger tips. Today everyone has become increasingly mobile savvy and bringing healthcare solutions on such a platform will not only benefit the individual but also elevate the healthcare fraternity of the state. It will help people to access health services faster and conveniently. ” WRAWB state coordinator reiterated that “India has some of the best policies in the world for maternal and child health even then we have to work hard to materialize those policies.” We need political will to feed real time data from health MIS for better use of this app. Ms Santana Murmu, a social activist Santana Murmu said “Childbirth can be a very frightening experience for many women, but it should be a joyous occasion—and every woman should feel valued, respected, and appreciated by all those who aid her in her journey of bringing new life into the world.”
