Asadharan – Honouring the Unsung Heroes

The Asadharan Award recognises the exceptional and exemplary achievements that are truly inspirational, outstanding work of individuals and organisations from across all businesses and professions from the City of Kolkata and acknowledges their contribution to the Society. Hosted by Friends of Kolkata, an autonomous non-profit organisation committed for the concerns of Kolkata, the event aims to celebrate the various outstanding roles played by these unsung heroes to enrich the cultural diversity of our society.

Their success stories, play an increasingly important role in various walks of life, sports, media, science, medicine, arts, culture and community services. To ensure that the future generations will continue to carry the success further, Friends of Kolkata launches Asadharan - Honouring the Unsung Heroes.

Friends of Kolkata is organising “Asadharan” to felicitate the achievers, the unsung Heroes of our community on Saturday, 13th August 2016 at Kalamandir Auditorium, Shakespeare Sarani, Kolkata at 5 pm.

Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal Sri Keshari Nath Tripathi ji has consented to be the Chief Guest and Dr. Partha Chatterjee, Hon’ble Minister, Govt. of West Bengal shall grace the occasion as Guest of Honour.

Hon’ble juries for this award are Sri Chuni Goswami, Sri Bickram Ghosh, Sri Jimmy Tangree, Smt. Agnimitra Paul and Smt. Alokananda Roy.

Following recipients have been selected for being Asadharan 2016 - Dr. Fuad Halim, Ms. Devlina Kumar, Smt. Nita Diwan, Smt Sarbani Das Roy, Sri Bobby Chakraborty, Sri Mamoon Akhtar, Sri Mudar Patherya, Sri Nitaidas Mukherjee, Sri Ranjit Das Bairagya, Sri Surajit Ghosh, Sri Sushil Ojha and Sri Taranjit Singh.

Legendary Actor Sri Soumitra Chattopadhyay and Educationist Sister M. Cyril will be felicitated with Asadharan - Lifetime Achievement Samman 2016.

On this auspicious occasion, a book titled “Life is a Celebration” authored by Sri Rajendra Khandelwal shall be formally launched by Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal Sri Keshari Nath Tripathi ji, Sri Soumitra Chattopadhyay, Sri Gautam Ghosh and others.

“This unique change maker award Asadharan shall be held every year to recognise the unsung heroes in our community and by this way we expect to support the fight against deteriorating values in our society. These Asadharan torch bearers shall motivate others to take up the good work for the humanitarian cause” told by Rajendra Khandelwal, Managing trustee, Friends of Kolkata.
