What’s Bad: It is difficult to find faults in AAS.
Loo Break: Unless you want to keep guessing what’s happening next in the loo!
Watch or Not?: No one ever wants to miss a chance to see something epic! This is it.
What it's about: :
When two young women in the city are found raped and murdered in a similar fashion, ACP Shabor Dasgupta (essayed with elan by Saswata Chatterjee) of the West Bengal Police is called to action with his two sidekicks – the goody-two-shoes Nandalal Roy (Subhrajit Dutta) and Sanjib Das (Gaurav Chakrabarty). However, the case takes a significant turn when 20-year-old Rinku Roy (Diti Saha), a ‘bakhate’ (spoilt) daughter of divorced parents, is found murdered, exactly the same way. Rinku was known to be having an affair with her 38-year-old, nefarious neighbor Bijoy Sen (Indraneil Sengupta) – a relationship her rich businessman father, who lives in a palatial house in Chandannagore, did not approve of. Her mother, Sharon (Anjana Basu), is shown to be living in Lucknow with her husband Sujit Dutta (Mir). Who is the murderer and why is he committing such crimes is the central plot.
Movie Review: Star Performance, Direction, Music :
Has Saswata Chatterjee ever failed to impress? I can’t think of any film where he has! The supremely talented actor only gets better with every film I feel. In tollywood, if anyone can compete with Saswata Chatterjee, it’s Saswata Chatterjee himself! What a performance!
Arunima Ghosh as the victimised wife is a treat to watch, Subhrajeet Dutta delivers is a great actor and as the sidekick, once again does his job well. Indraneil Sengupta does a decent job.
Gaurav Chakraborty impresses as the cop. Anjana Basu, Mir and Anindya Chattopadhyay put up a great supporting cast.
.Newcomer Diti Saha does a good job
While every actor has put in their best performance, Saswata Chatterjee steals the show!
What can I say? Arindam Sil just decides to wow me everytime he takes up a film. He is full of experimentation and I particularly love his descriptive nature of direction.
The background score is different and it somehow works for the film. I was skeptical about the music blending well with this story but well he proves me wrong, it works like magic.
In a particular action scene, the director lets the background score take the lead as people are being slashed around blood spills on the walls; it is completely mind-blowing and that is what you call contemporary direction for a period drama. The cinematography and production design have done their jobs well
Review: The Last Word:
Asche Abar Shabor is a delicious thriller filled with elements that make you rack your brains too. This mystery is the one even you would want to solve. Watch it for an amazing story and its even better execution. Crime mysteries just got better in Tollywood! I am going for Three and half stars for this one!
